Let me start by saying that the entire first two chapters are explanatory. It’s a very informative story in terms of narrative. That’s because there’s a lot of world building, and as a result, a world that feels like flesh. I’m really immersed in this crazy monster school, but, honestly, I’m ready to put the down to chapter 2 – because, ugh, dumping information – but I’m so glad I did continue. A Deadly Education is a scary fun adventure.
Told in first person, our protagonist Galadriel aka El recounts his school life with a combination of information and flashbacks. She knows a lot of the general history of the world, and she is an overthinker. I identify with the cranky sixteen-year-old with an anti-world attitude (though unfortunately I’ve never been a strong magician) but I can see the writing style won’t suit all. everyone.
