Zendaya to Become the Youngest CFDA Fashion Icon Award Recipient

At just 25 years old, Zendaya has established herself as one of the fearless, fearless stars on the red carpet. Now, her bold style choices are being bragged by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

The CFDA has announced that Zendaya will be the recipient of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award in 2021, making her the youngest honoree in history when presented at the CFDA Fashion Awards on the 10th. May. Zendaya joins the distinguished list of previous Fashion Icon Award recipients, including Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams and Naomi Campbell.

Zendaya’s global impact on gamut fashion, from supporting emerging designers to collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger on the Tommy x Zendaya capsule collection. She’s also always been an advocate for inclusion – her Daya by Zendaya line (launched in 2016) is designed to be cross-gender and comes in extended sizes and affordable prices.

Most recently, the actress showed off her shape-shifting style on her press tour for Dune, where she rocked everything from metal busts to lanyards. mini Valentino balloons.

Zendaya’s longtime visual architect, Law Roach, tells people they started experimenting with bolder styles when she was in her 20s.

“She’s a woman now so we’ve done a little bit more of the flesh and the sexy,” Roach said. “We wanted to create aspirational looks that people would talk about for a while.”

“We have such a relationship that there’s nothing to fear when it comes to fashion. There’s nothing she won’t try. She’s fearless,” Roach added. “She has a really great talent for walking on the carpet and conjuring up whatever story we’ve created in the background.”

And once she crosses the line on a red carpet, she steps into the next incredible moment.

“She is constantly growing,” says Roach. “She’s really talented that way. There’s nothing that defines Zendaya.”
