Despite the writing being a bit of a slog at times, I enjoyed this immensely. It’s not a book you can binge, but it was twisty and exciting and delicious. I loved the main character and the little band of characters we’re introduced to over time. The magic school was really interestingly set up, even if it is confusing at times, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!
The one thing I’m not entirely sure on is whether this is young adult or adult. It’s shelved as adult, but I think it’s appropriate for a younger audience as well. Maybe not for wee kiddos.
